Smithsonian Handbooks Birds Of North America – Eastern Region
This is my favorite book. It has all the information you would ever want. It gives you the bird’s range, physical descriptions, song, behavior, nesting, feeders and birdhouses, flight patterns, nest locations, habitat, similar birds and more. With a huge listing of birds, and really nice detailed pictures, you can’t go wrong with this book. It has 751 pages.
National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds Of North America
Another one of my favorite books. 591 pages of really nice pictures showing the differences between male, female and juveniles. It also shows pictures of many birds wings in flight. Very nice detailed pictures and descriptions with voice and range. Another must have book!
Peterson Field Guide To Birds Of Eastern And Central North America
My third book. It has 376 pages, full of pictures that point out the differences in different species. It literally has arrows showing you specific differences from one similar variety of a species to the others. A great tool to have in your bird ID resources. This book also has nice detailed bird information including family descriptions, habitat, range, size and how rare or common the bird is.
